[Local Seminar Report] Possibilities for AI Utilization Considered with Japanese Companies in Singapore {AI Chatbot Creation Workshop and Social Gathering Included}

Recently, we held our second AI Utilization Seminar in Singapore.GPC Gateway Pte Ltd Thanks to the efforts of Managing Director Hideo Yamashita, we were able to hold the seminar at the wonderful venue, One&Co. Approximately 30 people applied, and it was a great success. People who had seen my information on X joined in, and I am happy that awareness is gradually spreading in Singapore.

At the social gathering after the seminar, we had an in-depth discussion about AI with Mr. Yamashita and other participants, and gained many insights about the current situation and challenges of AI utilization in Singapore. Through dialogue with local Japanese companies, we were able to gain new perspectives on the challenges and possibilities unique to Singapore.

Today, I would like to share my experience in supporting the introduction of AI to over 150 companies, as well as my outlook for the future use of AI in Singapore and Japan, based on what I have seen through this seminar.

Through dialogue with Japanese companies in Singapore, I have gained a lot of insight into the challenges and possibilities that are unique to Singapore. Today, I would like to share my experience in supporting the introduction of AI to over 150 companies, as well as my outlook for the future use of AI in Singapore and Japan, based on what I have learned from this seminar.

The current situation surrounding AI business in Japan and Singapore

Japanese companies are critically behind

I have always been concerned about the delay in AI adoption in Japanese companies. While 921 TP3T of Fortune 500 companies have adopted ChatGPT, the AI adoption rate among Japanese TSE Prime companies is only about 101 TP3T. The situation is serious at 31 TP3T for small and medium-sized enterprises. For Japan, which has already been overtaken by Germany in GDP and fallen to fourth place in the world, I believe that this delay in AI adoption is an issue that cannot be overlooked.

Singapore's pioneering efforts

On the other hand, the situation in Singapore is very different. As shown in the KPMG survey, Singapore has an extremely high acceptance of AI, and the government is taking various measures to support it. In May 2023, the government began providing subsidies for the introduction of Microsoft Copilot for small and medium-sized enterprises, and has launched a series of concrete measures.

Every time I visit Singapore, I am struck by the progress of technology use in the public sector, as exemplified by Changi Airport's fully automated immigration system. Unique initiatives unique to Singapore can be seen everywhere, such as the use of AI in a multilingual and multicultural environment, and the implementation of AI to support global business 24 hours a day.

Challenges for Japanese companies in Singapore

There are about 700 Japanese companies operating in Singapore, but the biggest challenge I feel there is the constraints imposed by the AI utilization policy of the Japanese headquarters. Even though Singapore is a technologically advanced country, there are many companies that are unable to introduce AI because they are waiting for a decision from the headquarters.

In response to this situation, Digirise is committed to fulfilling its role as a solutions provider. We aim to build a solid track record with Japanese companies in Singapore and become a leading company in supporting the use of AI in Asia.

The potential of AI for business transformation

According to a survey by Salesforce, the reality is that salespeople spend about 701 TP3T of their time on non-sales activities. Our support clients have successfully reduced their work hours by 27 hours per month (1.5 hours per day) by introducing AI. With proper implementation, it is possible to create time for the work that should be focused on.

Three elements of successful AI adoption

Having helped over 150 companies with their implementations, we have found that there are three keys to success:

1.Management Commitment

  • Understanding the importance of AI
  • Company-wide promotion of use
  • Accelerating investment decisions

2.Step-by-step human resource development

  • All employees achieve Level 1 (basic use)
  • 20-30% employees reach level 2 (optimization)
  • Developing core promoters

3.Sustainable support system

  • Continued follow-up for about one year
  • Formation of an internal community
  • Sharing and expanding success stories

Digirise's Challenges and Prospects
