    Based in Aichi Prefecture, Totec Co., Ltd. operates in three areas: design, manufacturing, and staffing. Its strength lies in its ability to design and manufacture automated equipment such as automated guided vehicles, cranes, and unmanned trolleys in-house. It also provides staffing services specifically for the manufacturing industry, supplying immediately effective personnel tailored to the client's needs. Now in its 22nd year of operation, the company's core management philosophy is "Happiness for everyone involved." It prioritizes creating a workplace where employees feel "glad to work here," and is expanding its business based on the belief that this also leads to providing value to its customers.

    Before implementation, many analog processes remained within the company. In the manufacturing department, past estimates were managed on paper, requiring repeated flipping through files to verify contents. Invoices were also managed by hand, leading to decreased work efficiency and a serious reliance on individual expertise. In addition, understanding and awareness of AI and DX within the company were not yet fully established, making the standardization of operations and the organization of information an urgent priority.

    Effects after generative AI introduction training

    While dramatic changes didn't occur immediately after the training, steady changes have taken root within the company. We are primarily using AI for document creation and the development and revision of business and medium- to long-term plans, and the following effects have been confirmed:

    ・A shift in thinking: The spontaneous idea that "we might be able to do it if we use AI" is spreading among employees, and the perspective of considering whether tasks can be supplemented by AI is becoming established.

    • Improved document creation efficiency: By using AI to create initial drafts of internal and external announcements and reports, work time has been reduced, and consistency in expression and readability have improved. AI is also being used to create drafts of important documents such as announcements regarding changes in company leadership.

    - Support for creating and reviewing long-term plans: By utilizing AI for drafting business plans and medium- to long-term strategies, comparing scenarios, and summarizing key points, the comparison and evaluation of multiple options and regular reviews have become smoother, improving the quality of decision-making.

    • Articulation and accumulation of knowledge: By using AI to organize and summarize business know-how and past agreements, tacit knowledge is made more visible, and handover and training are made more efficient.

    Expectations for future quantitative effects: At this stage, the focus is mainly on qualitative effects such as reduced working hours and improved quality, but as the scope of implementation expands, we plan to measure quantitative results such as reduced lead times for creating estimates and proposals.

    Generative AI is becoming established not merely as a replacement tool, but as a support system for intellectual tasks such as writing and planning. As a result, the amount of time spent on thinking has been reduced, and the time available for decision-making and selection has increased, which is a significant achievement. These are expected to form the foundation for future business expansion and the provision of value to external parties.

    Future outlook

    The company aims for further expansion by spinning off its various businesses and establishing a holding company structure. It seeks to create an environment where employees can proactively choose their own work styles and careers, realizing its philosophy of "a company where anyone can be a leader." AI is positioned as a crucial technology that will not only improve internal operational efficiency but also contribute to providing value to clients. After its internal adoption, the company plans to leverage this expertise to develop proposals for clients.
